Kitchens!

The kitchen is truly the heart of the home.  It starts from first thing in the morning with coffee and breakfast and it ends at night with a delicious before bed snack or some hot tea to help unwind.

The kids always do homework at the kitchen table while I cook dinner and it's a great place to spend quality time with the family!

Halloween Party

Today I am taking my girls shopping for their Halloween party on Saturday.  I wanted some fun creative decorating ideas for the party.  I really don't want to do the same packaged decorations as everyone else has  so here are some great DIY ideas that we have chosen:

Perfect table centerpiece and I already have plenty of glass vases and jars!

Just need some black construction paper and the template for the bats

Slow Cooker

It's getting cold and snow is on the way! Unfortunately the snow is coming right smack in the middle of the week so that means lots of traffic!  What would be more perfect than coming home from the evening drive and the delicious aroma of dinner has already filled your house.  All you need to to do is get out of those work clothes and pull on some comfy sweats and serve dinner.  I love the slow cooker!  I am going to the store today so I can have the ingredients to throw in the slow cooker tomorrow morning and I don't have to think about cooking tomorrow night!  Heres what I am going to be making:

I love this slow cooker from Williams-Sonoma but it's really expensive!  Any slow cooker will do.

Dining Rooms!

It's really too bad that dining rooms are mainly used for holidays and  big family gatherings.  People are so busy they forget to enjoy the time a family can spend together at a meal whether they eat in front of the tv or eat at different times because of conflicting schedules.  Choose at least one meal a week where you and your family can enjoy a wonderful time together without distraction and enjoy this overly neglected room!

I love this dining room.  There are extra leaves in the table to expand for more people but perfect for a family dinner.  The colors are warm and cozy and the seating soft and comfortable for relaxed dining.  There is not one thing I dislike about this beautiful dining room!

Cozy Beds

Yuck, I am sick today and all I want to do is stay in bed.  Sadly I have to run some errands and go apply for a job and William-Sonoma to make some extra money for the holidays.  Oh I forgot to mention my adorable 5 month old puppy Titan who is a holy terror!  All I want to do is stay in bed.  Here are some cozy beds that I wish I could jump into right now:

I have this new obsession in design and I want my whole house done this way.  It's the farmhouse style, I love the mix of warm woods and aged white washed woods.  The finishings are all mix and match but it works so harmoniously together!  It has this way of giving off a warm cozy feel but there is so much natural light in there you don't feel cramped.   I have really started to purchase some vintage pieces and that is how I am incorporating the farmhouse look into my home.  Here are some ideas that I love!

Ever wish your home was straight out of a Pottery Barn catalogue?  I do, in fact I used to work there part time and we had the best discounts!  Maybe I will consider going back for seasonal work just so I can add to my Pottery Barn collection...
